Tanny joined the family business in 1987 and was named to her current role in 2003. As president and CEO, she provides the company with overall strategic direction and leadership development.
She is an avid supporter of the Crane on Board program, serving on many local boards, including Huntington Bancshares, Inc., Columbus Foundation, Columbus City School Foundation, Columbus Partnership, Fisher College of Business Advisory Board and Ohio Health. In the past, she has served as board chair and campaign chair of the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland, United Way of Central Ohio, and has served on the board of Action for Children.
Tanny is a graduate of The Ohio State University. She also earned an M.B.A. from Northwestern University.
President, The Crane Group Companies
Mike joined Crane Group in 1989 as general counsel and was named to his current role in 2007. As president, Mike manages Crane Group’s operating business units.
He is an active corporate volunteer, serving on the boards of several local organizations, including the Ohio Manufacturers’ Association, Capital University, the Columbus Academy, and the US Bank Advisory Board (Columbus). He is also a past president of the Buckeye Ranch Foundation.
He is a graduate of Harvard College and The Ohio State University College of Law.
Andrew M. Hackett
President, Crane Investment Company
Andy has over 18 years of experience advising business clients and corporations on various business and legal matters. He joined Crane in 2002 and has been part of Crane Investment Company since 2007. He received his BBA in accounting from the University of Notre Dame in 1992 and his law degree from Notre Dame Law School in 1995. After law school he worked for the law firm of Porter, Wright, Morris & Arthur from 1995 to 1998, where he concentrated on the acquisitions of public and private companies and securities law matters. Immediately prior to joining Crane, he worked for the Business Affairs and Corporate Development Group at America Online Inc., where he worked on a variety of acquisition, joint venture, licensing and interactive marketing deals.
Timothy T. Miller, C.P.A., J.D. Vice President and General Counsel, Crane Group
Tim was named to his current title in 2007, after having served as general counsel for Crane Group for the previous ten years. In this position, he serves as chief legal officer for the Crane Group. He has been with the company since 1992.
He currently sits on the Board of Trustees for the Omicron Alumni Association, the Community Shelter Board, the United Way of Central Ohio, and the Columbus School for Girls. He is a past board member of Faith Mission and Contemporary American Theatre Company (CATCO).
Tim is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, American Bar Association, Ohio Bar Association, Illinois Bar Association, Columbus Bar Association, and Chicago Bar Association. He earned his bachelor of science degree in accounting from the University of Illinois, Champaign, in 1980 and a law degree from Loyola University, Chicago, in 1987.
Chad M. Utrup Chief Financial Officer, Crane Group
Chad joined Crane in 2013 as Executive Vice President and CFO. Chad has over 15 years of experience in
various financial management and leadership roles. He received his BSBA in finance from The Ohio State
University in 1996. From 1996 to 1998 he worked at Electronic Data Systems (EDS) in various financial
positions concentrating on manufacturing clients. From 1998 to 2013 Chad worked at Commercial Vehicle
Group (CVG), most recently serving as Chief Financial Officer since 2003. While at CVG, Chad helped lead
the Company’s successful initial public offering in 2004 and participated in the negotiation, due diligence,
financing or integration of all of their acquisitions and joint ventures. Chad has also held various non-financial
leadership roles including investor relations, information technology and human resources and has
a strong background in operations.
In 2011, he was selected as “CFO of the Year” by Business First in the “Corporate” category and was also
the recipient of the Business First “Transaction of the Year” award in 2011 for his accomplishments in
financial restructuring following the economic recession. Chad currently serves on the Board of Roadrunner
Transportation Systems, Inc. and also serves as its Audit Committee Chairman.
President, Able Roofing, Mr. Roof, Contractors Inc.
Jim joined AMC as President in August, 2014 to lead the company on an aggressive growth plan. Jim has experience in rebranding and growing companies. In 2000 he joined Crane Group as the Vice President of Sales and Marketing of their siding group that was called VIPCO at the time. Jim led the rebranding of the company to Crane Performance Siding and became President in 2002. The company continued to grow and ultimately was rebranded as Exterior Portfolio by Crane.
In February of 2011 he led the successful sale of the company to Georgia Gulf Corporation (now Axiall). Jim was able to keep his entire key management team intact during this process. In fact, when the decision was made to merge Royal Siding and Exterior Portfolio’s sales and marketing teams, Jim was chosen to lead the group. He eventually also led the merger of Royal Trim and Mouldings into the group as well.
Jim has served on several boards including Crittenton Community School as Vice Chair, VSI as Chair and has been a Big Brother since 2006.
He is a graduate of Indiana University of Pennsylvania with a B.S degree in Marketing.
President, Crane Materials International
Duane joined Crane Group in 2003 when the two companies merged. During his career he has held critical management roles at Fuji Films, Rexam PLC and IPG prior to joining Crane Group.
Duane is a graduate of FSU, where he earned a bachelor of science in engineering. He also holds a MBA in corporate finance.
President, Screen Machine Industries
Steven Cohen is president of Screen Machine Industries located in Columbus, Ohio. He is responsible for overall operations of a business that designs and manufactures large portable crushing and screening equipment for the mining and construction industries. His company sells equipment worldwide and is a past recipient of the Export Achievement Award presented by the U. S. Department of Commerce, and the Governors’ Excellence in Exporting Award presented by the State of Ohio.
Steven joined Screen Machine Industries after graduating from The Ohio State University in 1984 with a degree in Marketing and Communications. Although he feels his strength is in Management and Marketing, his participation in new machinery designs has been rewarded with two U. S. patents as an inventor. He has held several positions within the company including Production Manager, Sales Manager and Vice President, before becoming President and CEO in 1998. He recently had the honor of representing his company, industry and community speaking primetime at the 2012 Republican National Convention in Tampa.
He has served on several boards including The OSU Hillel Foundation, The Advisory Board of Central Ohio Technical College, Licking County Chamber of Commerce, and Licking County Manufacturer’s Council, amongst others.
G. Brent Bishop
President and Chief Executive Officer, irth Solutions
Brent Bishop serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of irth Solutions®. Brent joined the company in 2008 as CFO, to oversee all financial aspects of the organization and in 2011 also assumed Chief Operating Officer responsibilities. Having served as CEO of First Capital Asset Management, Inc. as well as CFO of Acceleration Corporation and Physicians Health Plan, two public companies also based in Columbus, Brent brings more than 30 years of financial and management experience to the company. His management background includes public service as Assistant Director of the Ohio Department of Commerce, as Superintendent of the department’s Division of Real Estate and as Ohio Securities Commissioner, regulating Ohio’s investment community. Brent has served in key financial roles on the Boards of Franklin County Children’s Services, Catholic Social Services (Columbus Diocese), the United Methodist Children’s Home and Columbus Association for the Performing Arts. He holds a B.S. degree in Business Administration from The Ohio State University.
J. Scott Kleppe
President and Chief Executive Officer, Sensit Technologies
J. Scott Kleppe is President and Chief Executive Officer of Sensit Technologies (formally J And N Enterprises, Inc.) in Valparaiso Indiana. He oversees all sales, design, manufacturing, service, quality and financial operations of the organization.
Scott has spent over 30 years working to build the family business. He began his career in 1984. First in packaging and shipping, then sales and the in 1999 was named President. Today Sensit Technologies has complete Sales and Service, R&D, and manufacturing operations.
Scott’s education spans from Chemical Engineering at Purdue to Electrical/HVAC Systems studies at Indiana Vocational Technical College and various business classes through University of Wisconsin Business School.
Affiliations include Midwest Energy Association Board of Directors (2009-2015), American Gas Association OESA Committee Chairman (elect) (2013-2015), and Eastport Owners Association Board member (2011-2014)
Scott currently lives in Union Mills, Indiana with his wife, Tina. They have a daughter residing in Valparaiso.
President, Engineered Profiles
Tim joined Crane Group in 2003 and was named president of Crane Plastics in 2007. In 2009, Tim and members of his management team purchased from Crane Group a majority interest in the company. Now, as president of Engineered Profiles, he is responsible for managing the company’s growth and profitability. He is active in the Crane on Board program, serving as a member of the Columbus Urban League’s Board of Directors.
Tim is a graduate of the University of Minnesota, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in business and economics. He also earned an M.B.A. from the University of Wisconsin.
